    Get PDF
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has revolutionized the lives of the people. The technology is embedded in daily life of literate or semiliterate/illiterate users. However, the user interface (UI) requirements for semiliterate/illiterate users are different from that of an educated person. The researchers of Human Computer Interaction for Development (HCI4D) face challenges to improve the usability of a UI for the semiliterate users. Therefore, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is conducted to provide a set of design factors and guidelines for UI development of semiliterate users. The study is based on extensive research gathered from literature to understand the user-centered design (UCD) approach, enhancing user experience (UX) for semiliterate users. This study analyses fifty two research articles that are published during 2010-2020. The findings shed light on the systematization of UI design guidelines for semiliterate/illiterate users. These guidelines can help in taking advantage of ICT during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis shows that seventeen main design factors are indispensable for designing UI of semiliterate users. The most suggested design factors include localization and graphics, which should be incorporated in UI for the target population. Moreover, the lag in the design factors as personalization and consistency open a road for future research

Different researchers evidenced that e-learning has provided more opportunities to behave unethically than in traditional learning. A descriptive quantitative enquiry-based study is performed to explore same issue in e-learning environment. The factors required for ethical development of students were extracted from literature. Later, efforts are made to assess their significance and their status in e-learning with 5-point Likert scale survey. The sample consisted of 47 teachers, 298 students, and 31 administrative staff of e-learning management being involved in e-learning. The work also observed state of students on various ethical behaviors. The study emphasized that physical presence of teacher, an ethically conducive institutional environment, and the involvement of the society members are among the main factors that help in the ethical development of a student which are missing in e-learning. The results of the study showed that the moral behavior of e-learning is at decline because of lack of these required factors in e-learning. This work also suggested the need of a model indicating how these deficiencies can be addressed by the educational institutions for ethical development of higher education learners

Fiverr.com is one of the biggest freelancing websites in the world. It provides a platform to clients and freelancers. In Fiverr, buyers pay in advance for the โ€œgigsโ€ created by sellers. A โ€œgigโ€ on Fiverr shows a specific service or set of skills of any type of freelance service, ranging from copywriting to social media marketing, to web design. This website is used by all types of users. Many people face problems regarding its interface. For many novice and intermediate users, this website is complicated. In this study, SUS is used to measure the usability of the Fiverr.com website. The main focus of this paper will stay on the SUS survey done on Google forms after performing some tasks. Results from the Google forms survey will be used to get the usability of this website either people are satisfied with the website or not. Usability evaluation of Fiverr is conducted by evaluating it with many parameters like efficiency, effectiveness, and the satisfaction of users. Another objective of this research is to improve the interface of this website. A system usability scale (SUS) is a quick and effective approach to evaluate the usability of a product. It is a low-expense usability scale that can be employed for the assessment of interactive systems. The SUS questionnaire is widely used to measure the usability of e-commerce websites. In this study, novice, intermediate and expert users, a total of 30 participantโ€™s feedback was combined to improve its design. Results from Google forms show a 63.3 mean SUS value. It shows that the Fiverr.com website has minor issues that need to be resolved. If these problems are resolved it will help new clients and sellers in the future

Personality development of an individual is a continuous process that involves multiple methods and techniques. Study on a personโ€™s personality is conducted by examining inherited and adopted personality traits during their life span. Higher education institutes play a vital role in flourishing studentโ€™s personality and significant revolution is noticed by the researchers in this regard. Individualโ€™s personality is being affected by use of social media including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and many more. Facebook (FB) is widely used as an online social network to communicate with other individuals. It is observed that students are also users of FB for learning, interacting, recreating and browsing purposes. Our research falls in the same dimension to study studentโ€™s personality traits through their FB use and eventually analyze the change in their personality. For the same, four higher education institutes of Pakistan located in Lahore are targeted. Data is collected for five years from under graduate students from 2015-2019. It has two main purpose; firstly, to present analytical results and secondly, to examine the changes in personโ€™s personality traits (PT) during degree program at the university. Data is collected from FB profiles through an application and Big Five Personality Trait model is used to conduct personality assessment. Five PT are studied namely; extraversion, agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism. Results interpret the direct relationship of the personality trait with the use of FB and it has shown increased impact on studentโ€™s personality over the progress of the degree program. Students of all four universities came up with almost identical results that depict the similar role of an institute in the development of the studentโ€™s personality. Research findings contribute towards data science by proving analytical data on studentโ€™s personality traits. Also, it acts as guide for educational institutes to deeply cope with targeted PT of a student. Eventually, it facilitates the students to use OSN more effectively in development of their positive personality

Background The annual Muslim pilgrimage has the potential of increase risk for acquisition of Neisseria meningitidis. Here, we evaluate the Hajj impact on the prevalence of N. meningitidis carriage in a paired and non-paired cohort of pilgrims. Secondary objectives were to calculate the compliance with recommended vaccination. Methods This is a prospective paired (arriving and departing), non-paired arriving and non-paired departing cohort study with the collection of nasopharyngeal samples at the start and the end of the Hajj. Results The study included unpaired arriving pilgrims at King Abdul Aziz International Airport (N = 1055), unpaired departing cohort (N = 373), and a paired cohort (N = 628) who were tested on arrival and departure. Meningococcal vaccination was received by all pilgrims, 98.2% received quadrivalent polysaccharide vaccine (ACWY), and 1.8% received meningococcal quadrivalent conjugate vaccine (MCV4). Only 1.61% and 23.03% received pneumococcal and influenza vaccines, respectively. Of the 1055 arriving unpaired pilgrim, 36 (3.4%) tested positive for nasopharyngeal carriage of N. meningitidis, and 24 (66.7%) of these were serogroup B, the remainder were non-groupable. Haemophilus influenza was detected among 45 (4.3%), and 11 (1%) carriers were positive for both N. meningitidis and H. influenzae. Out of 373 in the unpaired departing cohort, 6 (1.61%) tested positive for N. meningitidis, and 34 (9.1%) were positive for H. influenzae. Of the 628 paired cohort pilgrims, 36 (5.7%) pilgrims were positive for N. meningitidis at arrival and 16 (2.5%) pilgrims were positive after the hajj. Conclusion This the largest study of the epidemiology of N. meningitidis among pilgrims. The study showed a significant difference in the carriage between pilgrims from high endemicity and other pilgrims with a predominance of serogroup B. The continued use of ciprofloxacin as prophylactic antibiotics should be reconsidered as well as the consideration to add serogroup B as a required vaccination

Recent developments in the fields Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs) have created unprecedented changes in the way we deal and communicate. The learning environment, which plays a major role in the academic success and character development of students, has also been affected. Learning processes have evolved throughout the history of mankind. Electronic Learning (e-Learning) is the next evolutionary mode of learning of academic institutions to educate students in a Global Learning Environment (GLE). GLE has provided a lot of opportunities for academic institutions, but it has also extended the opportunities for students to behave unethically in their online academic activities which affect their character. So itโ€™s challenging for academic institutions to develop the character of students by controlling their unethical behavior in GLE. The work is to investigate the factors behind this challenge and then propose a model using ICTs, which will help to develop character of students along with domain knowledge
